It all started with three young professionals on vacation looking to seize the opportunity and help underprivileged children prepare for the upcoming academic school year. The philosophy was “since we will all be there having fun, why not help in the process.” At first, it was considered a one-time event since the odds of all three individuals to be in the same country at the same time was very slim given the logistical complexity going forward. However, after witnessing the lack of commitment from education departments to the academic progress of children in poor rural areas and the joy the children experienced when they received a backpack filled with notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, sharpeners, and other much appreciated academic supplies, a decision was made to make strides for a real long-term impact. It was then when The JUFI Foundation initiative was born.
Juventud Unida por un Futuro Imediato (JUFI), also known as, The JUFI Foundation is a 501c3 public charity that aims to empower underprivileged children by supplying academic materials and school supplies, awarding academic scholarships, providing funding for school construction and infrastructure improvements in the Caribbean, Central America, and Latin America. JUFI’s objective is carried out by raising funds from private donors, hosting charitable events, and conducting public item auctions.
